BPCD&S’s five partners grew up where they work. They are well-known and respected CPAs and citizens, who have built stellar reputations for their work and civic activities.
Sonny Bowen, the firm’s founder and senior partner, holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Accountancy from the University of Georgia. He specializes in financial management and tax consulting, and leads the firm’s Healthcare Team.
Tom C. Davis
Tom Davis has a BBA in Accounting from Valdosta State University. He has been a CPA since 1979 and merged his practice into the firm in January 2009. His primary focus is consulting with businesses and professional firms. Accounting Today Magazine recognized him as one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting in 2001 and 2002 and CPA Magazine named him one of the nation’s Top 100 Most Influential Practitioners in 2006.
Jane Freeman Phillips also holds a BBA in accounting from the University of Georgia. She joined the firm in 1986 and focuses her practice on tax planning and compliance, as well as medical practice consulting. The American Institute of CPAs has awarded her a Certificate of Educational Achievement in Taxation, and in November, 2000, Georgia’s Governor Roy E. Barnes appointed Jane to the Georgia State Board of Accountancy.
Tom Carmichael, another BBA from the University of Georgia, has been with the firm since 1989. He is BPCD&S’s audit partner with responsibility for BPCD&S’s quality control over all accounting and auditing engagements. Tom also provides management consulting and tax planning services for individuals and closely held businesses.
Sam Sims has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Bachelors of Business Administration in Business Management, with an emphasis in finance, from Valdosta State University. He has been a CPA since 1993 and merged his practice into the firm in April of 2009. Sam specializes in tax planning and preparation for individuals and closely held businesses
